Home of the world's greatest myths, legends and itihasa

Hey there. Epic India is an under-construction website dedicated to my vision of a country that is both real and mythic, historic and itihasic, fictional and factional. Call it what you will! I call it Epic India, after the world of the great epics The Ramayana and The Mahabharata. But mine is not a dewy-eyed attempt to relive the glory of that lost age, on the contrary: I'm more than willing and able to confront the best and worst of that age as well as the present day without sentiment or bias.

Let's make one thing clear: I am an individual working absolutely alone, with no alignments, political or otherwise. I am neither religious nor spiritual and have no agenda other than to enjoy and celebrate the great tales of ancient India - and more recent history as well - with my limited talent and resources, the only way I can: by retelling the great stories of perhaps the world's greatest ancient civilizations!

If you've read my Ramayana Series, Gods of War, Vortal, or been in touch with me online over the past decade or so, you know that I've made it my life's ambition to retell ALL the great myths, legends, itihasa, and sociopolitical history of the Indian subcontinent (and to a great extent, the world as well, if not in as much detail, since after all, one can't 'read' India in isolation). This is the basis for a massive linked narrative that promises to comprise over 70 volumes (as of this writing) and which I call The Epic India Library.

As of now, over 20 volumes have been published already, with another 25 at various stages of research, first-draft, editing, pre-publication, etc. No doubt, the entire project will take the rest of my lifetime, and it's even possible I may not finish it all before my time ends. But I'm damn well going to give it an epic try, and have a great time doing it as well!

What's more, the entire Epic India project is one hundred percent reader supported. So simply by buying one of my books - preferably directly from me, if you can - you enable me to keep researching, writing, re-writing, and most of all, publishing these books that record, document, recreate and otherwise maintain a living narrative of perhaps one of the greatest stories in human history, if not the greatest one of all: The story of India.

This website www.epicindia.com is undergoing a redesign (yes, still!) and is expected to be up and about sometime in mid-2010. To help support this ambitious (and near-impossible) solo endeavour, please visit my official author website Confessions of An Epic Indian where you can buy my book, read excerpts from WiP (Works in Progress) and interact with me directly.
